yuckkkkkkkkkkkk. i am parked next to a pile of 50 year old oil cans. this must have been someones 'private dump' many years ago. three feet high, 50 feet wide and 100 feet long.

at 47. i do not remember , steel, oil cans. yes they were still 'can's' but were of paper with tin tops . the smaller cans i see in the dump , i am thinking are brake fluid. lots of old coke and dr. pepper bottles. but all picked over. none are whole.

still, after i pick up a few bag fulls of 'modern' garbage. plastic bottles, bags etc. i will attempt to pick out some of the glass bottles for recycling.

if........ the city ever returns my emails about the recycling in yuma.

If they really are 50 years old (or close), you can sell 'em on Ebay. Old car enthusiasts buy "antique" motor oil cans for several dollars a piece.

lol. funny you mention that, i can see where someone has tried 'excavating' to see if there are any unbroken old soda bottles. alas. even in the desert. time does try to cause, dust to dust... all the cans are rusted.

just found out today , that the city of yuma , is 'trying a pilot program'' of recycling. duhhhhhhh .

so they may allow me to bring in some of the bigger pieces of glass bottles. anything to 'green up ' the area. impossible to walk barefoot anywhere out here. too many years of the desert as a dumping ground.
